Surfer girl Lindsay Lohan takes up a new hobby and hits the waves

She is rarely seen venturing far from her Venice beach hangouts and the Hollywood hotspots.
But Lindsay Lohan took a break from her usual partying ways today to try out a new hobby.
The actress took to waves in Malibu for a surfing photoshoot, which saw her riding big waves into shore on a large surfboard.

The 25-year-old looked a mixture of thrilled and scared as she rode a particularly large wave, gripping the board tightly.
At one point Lindsay mastered balancing on one knee as she surfed in the sunshine.
But despite her sporty activity the starlet couldn't be tempted away from her usual face full of make-up.

Lohan took to the water wearing thick eyeliner and false lashes.
While she managed to keep her bronzer, blusher and heavy eye make-up in perfect condition throughout her surf, Lohan emerged with her hair looking rather dishevelled.
She twisted her bleached blonde mane back into a scraggly bun.

 

The actress is well known for her penchant for hot pants, and sported a blue wetsuit with pink piping and cut-off legs to hang ten.
Lindsay had an excuse for her glamorous appearance - the actress was participating in a photoshoot for Love Cat magazine.

Back on the sand in between takes, Lindsay flouted Californian law by lighting up a cigarette.
She pottered around the beach set with a cigarette dangling from her lips while assistants set up the next shot.
Lindsay then changed into a full-length black wetsuit to hit the waves for a second time.
She appeared to struggle with the large surf board as she waded in the water at Surfer's Point.

Lindsay was pictured earlier in the day leaving her Venice Beach home toting a blue surfboard.
With her acting career in limbo, it seems the starlet may be taking up a new hobby to remain busy while she waits for word on her upcoming film Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father.
Despite appearing at a press conference for the mob film with co-star John Travolta earlier this year, it has been reported that the troubled star is yet to nail down a deal with the producers.
